Project ECHO NI Showcase

By admin

This month Project ECHO NI had the opportunity to share learning and showcase the work provided during the pandemic.  First, at the International Forum on Quality & Safety in Healthcare Europe, a virtual conference attended by over 300 participants.  Secondly, at the “Project ECHO Showcase” event hosted by the three UK Superhubs; Hospice UK, Highland Hospice & St Luke’s Hospice, Sheffield and attended by over 100 people.

At both events Tracey McTernaghan, Project Manager, outlined the programme management changes required to continue ECHO programme delivery as well as the results and benefits from the last year.  “We escalated work rapidly to meet the needs of our communities of practice. The agility and speed to which our processes changed was down to the ECHO NI team expertise and skills, and the delivery support from our colleagues in the Hospice UK ECHO office”, commented Tracey McTernaghan.

Twenty-four ECHO Networks transitioned from a monthly to weekly programme frequency and to an ‘ECHO-Lite’ hybrid model.  This model included a Covid-19 update, education session, Q&A, discussions.  Results and benefits included creating valuable peer support for everyone, enabling collaborative problem solving whilst working at an increased pace and importantly scaling the virtual communication channels to the health and social care sector in Northern Ireland.
