Public Mental Health Learning

The priority area of Public Mental Health includes a focus on early intervention and prevention work. The Steering Group has agreed on actions which focus on primary and secondary prevention and recognise the need to develop a learning network that increases the knowledge base across all relevant sectors and provides a platform for sharing good practice and encouraging collaboration and partnership.

The implementation plan for developing a learning network recognises that public mental health requires a knowledge base and a commitment from a range of disciplines across sectors. In order to grow the knowledge base, we require a platform that supports a collaborative approach that values the contribution of all who have knowledge and experience in the field.  Project ECHO provides the methodology that fits this approach by providing a platform for collaborative learning that encourages both didactic training and case studies to encourage peer-to-peer learning. This approach has been agreed upon within the Steering Group and recognises the value brought by and the need for commitment from the multi-disciplinary, cross-sector stakeholder group.
