    Overview

    About this network

The TIP (Trauma Informed Practice) team is managed within the Safeguarding Board for NI (SBNI), which is corporately governed by the PHA. Its aim is to support organisations (SBNI members and partners) to embed a trauma informed approach by applying the principles of safety, inclusion, collaboration, trustworthiness, choice and empowerment.

A trauma informed approach is about how services are delivered. It benefits people who have experienced trauma and adversity, the people who work with them, and everyone else too. This ECHO network brings TIP trainers together to share what works, learn from expert input and develop their training.

    Network objectives

    • Increase practitioners’ competence and confidence in applying public mental health approaches through shared learning, practical skills, and improved understanding of key themes.
    • Create a collaborative, inclusive network that connects practitioners, values diverse perspectives, supports wellbeing, and enables sharing of resources, expertise and contacts.
    • Enable members to collectively shape policy and strategic decision making by amplifying frontline insight, promoting evidence informed approaches, and advocating for action on the social determinants of mental health.
    • Support members to develop their learning beyond the network through collaboration to increase the knowledge base.
    • Explore how we can improve practitioner wellbeing through discussion, peer support, and reflective space.
